Citation grouping belonging to Gefreiter Rudolf Gäbel of the 6./ Gr. Rgt. 401. which was fighting in Estonia, Poland and Lithuania during 1944. The 401 originated on October 15, 1942 when it was renamed and merged from Infantry Regiment 401 and the 170th Infantry Division. The regiment was used in 1942 and 1943 in the Leningrad area. In 1944 the regiment was in battle around Narva, Vilna, and Suwalki.
Rudolf was wounded twice in 1944 and awarded the black wound badge on both occasions.
Included in this group are his Silver Infantry Assualt badge certificate (Besitzzeugnis – Infantrie-Sturmabzeichen in Silber) and two black wound badge certificates. (Besitzzeugnis – verwundetenabzeichen in schwarz)
Lovely grouping of three documents not often found still together. Most of these groups get spilt by out of touch dealers who don’t care about the history that is lost. We don’t do that here.
